I don’t know if you are like me, but I always have a million things going through my mind. These things range from genius to utterly stupid (Stupid in the most literal sense).
My wife insists that most of them lean more towards the “stupid” side, but I disagree because I like to keep it interesting.
This tip is as much for me as it is for you.
It may not be an actual business that you need to sell, but might be an idea. For many years a close friend has wanted to open a restaurant. This guy is a very talented and intelligent man with great ideas.
However, my friend will not let go of this restaurant idea. This “side business” bogs down his mind with an idea that will never materialize (he doesn’t like to cook and doesn’t want to be an entrepreneur).
Me on the other hand, I see opportunities in every niche I encounter for websites. Most of them don’t result in anything, but others do. To date I have over 60 websites many of which are “side” businesses that steal my focusing ability.
In order to “sell” these ideas (or perhaps literal businesses) you need to do two things.
1. Realize that it is over
Realize that the best is now behind you. It won’t always be the way it once was. You may never make a million dollars with your new shoe polish invention.
2. Move On
Please don’t dwell on the failed aspect or anything else negative about your old dream. Move on. Time to plan for bigger and better ideas.
Take those two tips into consideration and evaluate your business and see if it is time to let it go.
