Here is an idea you may not have thought of before. I certainly never had until it happened to me.
Every day (sometime weekly) in most major newspapers or business journals are listed people who received a promotion or were recently hired at a new company.
Most of these people you have probably never met and may never meet. But you should congratulate them anyways.
Send a short form letter that has their name, new company, new position and your genuine signature. Inside the envelope put one of your business cards.
The letter you send should offer help if they need it and offer your services. Offer your services in a way that makes it sound like you want to help them in addition to growing your business.
Here is a line that may work, “I wanted to offer my staffing services to you personally. If you need anything, call me on my direct line and I’ll help you myself.”
That makes it sound like you are making this special offer to the person you contacted.
Try it for a month or two, write a letter, change the name, title, and company, put a card in it, and send it.
This will only take you a few minutes a day and can reap great rewards.
